About Our Products
Faux Mink VS Synthetic Silk
The differences between the faux mink and synthetic silk eyelash extensions are quite subtle yet noticeable, mostly to you. Both types of lashes are made of the same materials (poly-fiber material).
The synthetic silk lashes have a silky, natural feel to them, they are more flexible. They look and feel like silk. They have a more flexible curl giving a softer feel, with a longer tapered end. They look more natural, with a softer look.
The faux mink lashes are a little more bold, slightly glossier than the Silk. They look and feel like mink. The faux mink are a little more rigid. Some clients may feel the weight on lashes. Faux mink eyelashe extensions have a stronger curl than the silk lashes within the same curl type. More rigid in shape and thicker throughout the lash. They are definitely more dramatic than silk eyelash extensions.
Deciding between "Mink" and "Silk" depends on your preference. If you prefer a subtle look, you may want to go for silk eyelash extensions. If you like more "bold" and "bling", then faux mink eyelash extensions will fit what you are looking for.

Just FYI, Hollywood Makeup Studio does NOT carry real mink eyelash extensions. Real mink eyelash extensions come from mink animals usually kept in mink farms. Besides, the fact that we do not agree with animal cruelty, studies have shown that there is a higher risk of having a negative reaction to real animal hair such as mink. Real mink hair may pose some health risks if the hair was not sanitized properly, which is almost impossible to verify.
Also, real mink eyelash extension lose its curl quickly and may crimp while on the client's lashes. Faux mink eyelash extensions are guaranteed to be clean, sterile, and will never lose its curl. For these reasons we feel that it is in the best interest of the lash stylist and client to not offer real mink eyelash extensions.
How to care for your eyelash extensions:
-
Keep your fingers off your lash extensions. Every time you touch them you are transferring natural oil and germs.
-
Perming or tinting lashes after lash extension application is not recommended.
-
Do not use a regular eyelash curler to curl Extensions (you won't need to curl your extensions).
-
Do not rub your eyes or lashes when washing your face. Clean around the eyes with a wash cloth.
-
Do not pull your lash extensions, as it will take out your own lash as well.
-
Do not go in a Sauna while wearing Eyelash Extensions for at least for 48hrs. Do not get them wet at all for 24hrs.
-
If you choose to wear mascara - only apply to the tips and use water-based mascara that washes off easily.
-
Do not try to remove the Extensions on your own, call us and we will remove them without harming your natural lashes.
-
Do not cut the Extensions (you may cut your own lashes).
-
Clean your eye make-up, but be gentle with your Extensions.
-
Remember to come in for touch ups (2-4 weeks).
-
Never tug, twist, pick or pull at your lashes or extensions.
-
Treat your eyes/extensions gently - as if you have makeup on that you don't want to smudge.
-
Brush and groom your lashes gently with a clean disposable mascara spoolie or eye shadow brush.
-
Try to sleep on your back or side, avoid smashing your lashes completely as you sleep.
-
When using night creams/serums, apply sparingly around eyes and blot off excess.
-
When you touch your lashes, always use upward, sweeping motions - no side to side rubbing at the lash line.
